Space
Antares is a star above all stars
You could fit a thousand suns inside its sphere
It burns 400 light-years from where we are
And the eye can scarcely see it shine from here
God is so much bigger, but at times
I feel that he’s as far off as his size
And the space between his character and mine
Is crossed by the phenomenon of light
Space . . . is the nothingness between us
The velvet void of comet rock and ice
Space . . . is the vast and breathless distance
And what fills the space between us
Is grace, moving at the speed of light
The moon—it turns just three short days away
And we boast about one giant leap for man
Yet hesitate to take one step of faith
Toward him who holds the stars in his right hand
Our God is so much bigger than them all
But our guilt made his as far off as his size
And the space between perfection and our fall
Was crossed by the phenomenon of light
Space . . . is the nothingness between us
The darkened void of wandering meteorite
Space . . . is the vast and breathless distance
And what fills the space between us
Is grace, moving at the speed of light
He holds the seven stars in his right hand
Made constellations uncharted and unseen
He holds us to his heart with his right hand
And he fills up all the space that’s in between
Space . . . was the ‘something wrong’ between us
The blackened void of loneliness and night
Space . . . was the vast and breathless distance
And what filled the space between us
Was his grace, moving at the speed of light
