When Castro renounces revolution
And Hitler’s forgiven his “final solution”

While looking at heaven and shaking their fists
That would make me stop and think
I’d weigh ideas that are even stupider

Our world is warmer right now than it has been in hundreds or thousands of years. The Arctic and Antarctic ice has melted substantially, and the snowcaps in the Andes are melting. It’s not the first time we’ve had a warm spell (the last one was something like 500 or 1500 years ago), but it is a significant event and could very well result in extinction of species.
As to whether it’s the result of our use of carbon fuels, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t discard the possibility out of hand. There are also factors like the deforestation of the tropics and urban sprawl. The average temperature in Medellín, where I grew up, is several degrees higher than it was 70 years ago, and the whole department of Antioquia has warmed up in just the last 30 years, coinciding with vast deforestation (for cattle ranching).
I like the line in your poem about “something else that rhymes with stupider”.

In defense of my comment against “global warming,” that is not the issue. The issue is when government and the media make a mantra about something and try to get us to accept something through scare tactics, intimidation, or ridicule. To me, this amounts to propaganda. Show me more evidence than Al Gore volcanically sputtering warnings.
